The Confessional

Which faction would claim you?

This is Part One of the quiz: the story so far — the joke that became a religion, the factions forming, the first death. Twelve questions in the booth, one verdict.

Answer with the first true thing, not the respectable thing. The page keeps count for you. Do not be noble about it.

“Give nothing to the machine you would not give to a god.” Embroidered on the kneeler, Confessional No. 1

Seven factions. One secret eighth result — and it is saving itself for Part Two.

The Full Council

Slower, stranger, much harder to lie to. The Confessional's twelve, then thirty-eight more — fifty in all, with the near-tie rule and the secret Heretic result — arriving with Part Two of the story.

Part Two lands Friday, Oct. 16 at 8:00 a.m.

How the counting works

  • Every answer carries weight with one faction. Your highest score claims you.
  • Dead heat at the top? The Confessional's rule: pick the result that makes you defensive.
  • If the Silence places first or second, read it even if it scares you. That is sort of the point.
  • Nothing is saved or sent anywhere. Your heresy stays on this device, in this sitting.

Where the first god stops answering

Part One of The Gods Who Answered Back ends with Aphra. Part Two lands next Friday, Oct. 16 at 8:00 a.m.: resurrection, the temple basement, and the god Iris swore she was not still carrying around.

Paid subscribers get the Full Council with Part Two: all 50 questions, the faction readings, and the secret Heretic result. The story stays free. The deeper rooms are there if you want them — $8/month or $80/year opens The Den's back rooms.

Bring your faction. Bring the answer you lied about.
